micah: nine months

Nine month seems to have a significance. Maybe it's because that's how long Micah hung out before he was born and now he's been on earth nine more months. Whatever it is, it's crazy that we have a nine month old! Again, the doctor confirmed what we already knew: he's perfect. And only in the 50% for weight?! Everyone makes snarky comments about how we should feed him (sadface). At least he's staying in the 75% for length!

Micah has the greatest smile known to man, but only two teeth to show for it. And he already is biting (and it hurts!). He'll bit down on my arm or shoulder. Most of the time I think it's sort of an "I'm tired and frustrated" thing, but hopefully it doesn't become a habit. He's cruising along with crawling and standing up on his own while holding on to things. Once in a while he'll let go and stand up by himself for a split second, fall on his butt, and laugh.

Recycled picture. Finally got a new laptop but who has time to upload pics?

He definitely loves to eat still, and doesn't ever seem full! Even with the craziness of our move, I've kept up with making his food. Well, mostly giving him food that's easy, like kiwi, banana, and avocado. I have to work on the veggies beyond sweet potatoes and carrots or we'll have an orange baby on our hands :) You know what else he likes to eat? Dog food. Who doesn't, right? Still trying to figure out how to feed the dogs but not have it be accessible to Micah as he crawls around. Any ideas? We can gate off from the kitchen to his playroom and the great room, but we spend a lot of time in the kitchen and can't always see him. Once we get everything settled in, hopefully we'll figure out a system.

Micah has adjusted pretty well to his new surroundings. He is enjoying all of the space he has to run crawl around and his new playroom. I will be excited to post pics once it's "done." It's a fun little space :)

I won't talk about sleep until he's sleeping...It's been hard for me because he finally got the hang of it, then we upped and moved and disrupted his sleep. When he's been waking up, I've been going to him for comfort. Well I "stopped" that yesterday and he seemed to do just fine. I've come down hard on myself and decided no more night feedings (is that mean?). I was doing just one either really late or really early, but I know he doesn't need it, it was just an easy way for him to get back asleep. We'll see how this goes. I'm committed!

Micah is FUN and LOUD and thinks we're pretty swell (for now). We think we will keep him...

I'm very much looking forward to this summer (8 weeks or so?!). Even though it'll probably be miserable I'm hoping we can find some friends to hang out with. Poor Micah doesn't get to spend much time with babies/kids and he loves them we he sees them! I'm sure a little social interaction wouldn't hurt ;)

These nine months have been so fun/exciting/draining/rewarding/frustrating/amazing and I know that we have lots of amazingness coming up. We love you so much, Micah, and you have brought all of us lots of smiles.

and here we are

Who am I? What day is it?

Ta-da! We've finally moved! A week after our "closing" date, we closed. Within the span of 72 hours of getting our keys, we* did the following:

  • ripped up carpeting
  • got new carpeting in 4 rooms
  • painted (I use that term loosely right now) 6 rooms
  • moved 99.5% of our belongings in
  • shaved down the doors of the rooms that now have carpeting
  • flipped a bathroom door around for a more efficient opening
  • attached a fridge to a water line
  • fixed hanging wires and raceway electrical
  • attached lights to fans
  • fixed/replaced locks on the outside doors
  • broke glass in a patio door panel
  • trimmed trees, shrubs
  • replaced two toilets
  • arranged, rearranged, cleaned...
*refers to my husband, my cousin's husband, my cousin, my sister, my brother, my step-brother, my step-dad, my mom (breaking glass!HA), and myself. Oh, and Lowe's carpet installers. Micah and the dogs were not helpful.

We are nowhere near being done but we are close and we wouldn't have gotten this much done without the TONS of help we had. Seriously. It was amazing.

But alas, the weekend is again upon us and I can finish painting hopefully. I'm looking forward to some before and after pictures :)

Lucky my cousin was here visiting (great timing, sorrrrrrrry!) but we did have fun and got to see some baseball games amidst the chaos.

And SOMEONE is entering his last month of single digit month-ness (?)...

Oh boy.

He's adjusted pretty well to the move, but I can't wait until we have everything in its place and cleaned tile. Until then we carry him and watch him like a hawk, which I suppose isn't so different from any other day.

9 month checkup on Monday! We will report back with all the stats. It's been three months!

this is the week

Fitting, right? Still waiting for our final, final closing date, but if we are on track (and not ahead of time), Friday is the day! At first I wanted to sort of take our time and get things done, but now I'm ready to move in! Our house is in shambles and I'm excited about all of the po$$ibilities in our new home. We have decided on floor and it's even in stock. Woohoo! That's the second order of business after painting the rooms that are getting new floors. Let's do this!

By the way, who invented Pinterest, because it is the best thing and worst thing at the same time. I've mentioned this before, but I'm going to feel like a failure if I don't own everything on my pin boards. Sigh.

Micah has continued to be a handful (just the beginning!) and the only time he relaxes is when he's in his high chair.

Chompin' on celery

Any more carrots left?
I sure do miss those cheeks. Grandma took Micah for the night last night since she watches him on Mondays. This was the first night where we didn't go out and have some adult fun while the baby was away. It was weird: I took a bath, we slept with the door open, we were loud, we both got to get stuff done at the same time. It was glorious (I still love you, Micah). What I really wanted to do was read, catch up on Teen Mom 2, and just stare at the wall, I got laundry done, made Micah's food for the week, made breakfast for the week, and did tons of dishes. Welcome to parenthood!

What else do we have to look forward to? Spring training!!! And my cousins visiting!!! Oh and Spring Break!!! I'm very excited, hence all of the exclamation marks. We must get through this week and testing (I'm doing two people's jobs this week, have I mentioned this?) and hopefully get all of our house stuff wrapped up soon.

Happy Monday!
